Before reading the hottest peppers of the world,need to know the unit in which measurement of spiciness is measured. The unit is SHU (Scoville Heat Unit). Normal peppers have the 2500-25000 SHU unit.


10. Red Savina Habanero

Red Savina peppers are reported to a score up to 577,000 on the Scoville scale. The Red Savina held the record of the hottest chili in the world from 1994 until 2006.The Red Savina just barely makes the Top 10, but does so in fashion with its great flavor and extreme heat.The Red Savina pepper is a cultivar of the habanero chili (Capsicum chinense Jacquin), which has been selectively bred to produce hotter, heavier, and larger fruit.

7 Pot Red peppers are reported to a score up to 1,000,000 on the Scoville scale.The 7 Pot Pepper originates from the nation of Trinidad. It is one of the world's hottest peppers and a landrace variety of Trinidad. The name was given because one pepper is claimed to be hot enough to flavor seven pots of stew!The most prominent features of many strains of the 7 Pot pepper are the pimpled exterior and blistering heat. Generally, heat seems to escalate when comparing lighter colored 7 Pot strains to red and brown ones. Consume with extreme caution!

8. 7 Pot Barrackpore

7 Pot Barrackpore are reported to a score up to 1,000,000 on the Scoville scale.This 7 Pot variety comes from the region of Barrackpore on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad. The Trinidad 7 Pot Barrackpore has an elongated pod structure sometimes similar to the Bhut Jolokia, but can have different appearances, shapes and sizes. 7 Pot Barrackpore has somewhat larger and more wrinkled pods compared to the regular 7 Pot.

7. Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper)

Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) are reported to a score up to 1,041,427 SHU on the Scoville scale.it is an interspecific hybrid chili pepper cultivated in the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.In 2007, Guinness World Records certified that the Ghost pepper was the world's hottest chili pepper, 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.

6. Naga Viper

The Naga Viper pepper is one of the hottest chili peppers ever measured. It was briefly the "World's Hottest Chilli" in 2011 according to the Guinness World Records with a rating of 1,382,118 Scoville Heat Units (SHU),The Naga Viper was created in England by chilli farmer Gerald Fowler of The Chilli Pepper Company in Cark, Cumbria. It is claimed to be an unstable three-way hybrid produced from the Naga Morich, the Bhut Jolokia and the Trinidad Scorpion (some of the world's hottest peppers).

5. Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T”

Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T” are reported to a score up to 1,463,700 SHU on the Scoville scale. Previous Guinness World Record Holder (2011) from Australia. No doubt it’s insanely hot, but other peppers have been proven to be hotter. It’s aptly named due to the scorpion stinger found at the tip of the pepper and also the creator, Butch Taylor.The burn from this pepper is unlike any other. The Butch T burns like you swallowed a 1,000 suns.

4. 7 Pot Primo

7 Pot Primo are reported to a score up to 1,463,700 SHU on the Scoville scale.it is Created by Troy Primeaux, (nickname Primo), a horticulturist from Louisiana.The 7 Pot Primo is very distinctive with its long skinny “tail”. When you just look at this pepper, you know it’s going to be INSANELY hot. It coincidentally looks strikingly similar to The Carolina Reaper

3. 7 Pot Douglah

7 Pot Douglah are reported to a score up to 1,853,936 SHU on the Scoville scale.From Trinidad, it’s said that 1 pod will spice seven pots of stew. It is a rare and extremely hot chili. The Douglah is characterized by a dark brown/deep purple skin with many “pimples” over the surface. The pepper starts out green and matures to the dark color unique to the Douglah.You can’t go wrong with fresh, dried, or powdered Douglah on any food.

2. Trinidad Moruga Scorpion

It was bred for heat and that it is, with an average SHU of over 1.5 million and peaks at 2.2 Million SHU!Just looking at it, you know its one mean pepper. The Carolina Reaper has a unique stinger tail that is unlike any other pepper.
